Charleston Ballet Theatre Center for Dance Education delivers consummate training to students from areas of the Lowcountry and across the Nation. CBT Center for Dance Education has a renowned legacy of offering preeminent training in and performance of classical ballet to students at all levels from beginner to pre-professional. CBT Alumni are members of ballet companies including New York City Ballet, Atlanta Ballet, Louisville Ballet, Nashville Ballet, and American Ballet Theatre.
Founding School Director Patricia Cantwell unique student core curriculum is focused on constructing robust technical strength, stamina and flexibility while nurturing creative development and teaching valuable life skills.
- Mandy Rowland Von See
MANDY ROWLAND VON SEE, a native of Charleston, began dance instructions with Charleston Ballet at the age of 8. She began performing in the Nutcracker in 1987 and went on to perform roles in Cinderella, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Romeo and Juliet and Charleston’s Broadway as well as variations at our local Spoleto Arts Festival.
In 1987, at the age of 10, Mandy was asked to be a part of Charleston Ballet Theatre’s first Junior Company and continued her training throughout her youth in Charleston. She graduated from Clemson with a BS in Graphic Communications and her career took her to Dallas, Chicago, Tampa and Atlanta before she returned back to Charleston.
Mandy (Ms. Mandy) has rejoined her CBT ballet family once again as Pre-Ballet, Level A and Level B1 and B2 instructor. Ms. Mandy adores her students and enjoys watching them grow as dancers and into mature young women. She is also continues to perform with Charleston Ballet as well as assist in leading performance rehearsals and auditions. Mandy feels very grateful for her long career with Charleston Ballet Theatre.
- Micheal Rodriguez
MICHAEL RODRIGUEZ began ballet at the late age 14. He studied under Deborah Case at the Deborah Case Dance Academy, home of the Rio Grande Valley Ballet. He had the luxury of working with numerous instructors including Prima Ballerina Absoluta Galina Mezentseva of the Kirov Ballet, Alex Ossadnick Ballet Bordeaux (current Ballet Master of Ballet Idaho), Michael and Olga Wise of Moscow Classical, Willie Shives of Joffrey Ballet, He then began to perform with The Rio Grande Valley Ballet portraying lead roles in and touring within the state of Texas. He had the pleasure of sharing the stage with principals of the Joffrey Ballet as well as dance and partner in Carnival of the Animals with Prima Ballerina Absoluta Galina Mezantseva.
He has trained in many styles of dance from instructors across the globe. He has had the privilege of choreographing for competitions, as well as working with artist for music videos, live concerts, musicals and plays. Is a sought out Master Teacher across the Country. He performs in CBT Center for Dance Education productions including Nutcracker, Cinderella and Happily Ever after.
- Katie Aileen Badget
KATIE AILEEN BADGETT was born and raised in Charleston, South Carolina. Now a familiar face in productions by Jill Eathorne Bahr—she currently works at Magnolia Dance Academy in Summerville. . She attended the South Carolina Governor ’s School for the Arts, where she took daily classes with Stanislav Isseav & Irena Ushakova. She was instructed by Robert Ivey, Alonzo King, Hernan Justo, Robert Barnett, Sandra Neels, Lloyd Withmore along with several others. Katie was seen last season in CBT Center for Dance Education’s Twas the Night Before Nutcracker and Happily Ever After in the Spring dancing the role of Pocahontas. And the Arabian Princess in the Nutcracker.
