Charleston Ballet Theatre Center for Dance Education is offering new performance opportunities this season. An important part of this offering is our participation in the Youth America Grand Prix. The school approaches the YAGP, not as a competition, but as an opportunity to increase a dancer’s confidence on stage and fine-tune their stage performances. The exposure to scholarships, apprenticeships and opportunity for additional stage time experience is invaluable to a young dancer. . The Professional Training Program”, is designed for dedicated students aged 12-19, who are focused on a professional career and also possess the many attributes necessary for success. Participating dancers must either be home-schooled or early-release students so they may experience rigorous daily training in a healthy manner that doesn’t overburden them. The program is designed for self-driven, high achievers who excel physically and mentally..
In the past 15 years, YAGP has reached over 50,000 dancers worldwide and awarded over $3 million in scholarships to the world’s leading dance schools. Over 300 YAGP alumni are now dancing with 80 companies around the world, including American Ballet Theatre, New York City Ballet, Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, Paris Opera Ballet, The Royal Ballet, Stuttgart Ballet, Dutch National Ballet, and San Francisco Ballet, among many others. This incredible result is possible because of individuals like you, who are dedicated to helping YAGP discover and cultivate dance talent worldwide.
YAGP is devoted to lessening the financial burdens of our participants in order to ensure their future in dance and provide them with as many audition and performance opportunities as possible.
BELOW ARE PHOTOS OF SATYA TRANFIELD ( FIRST PLACE WINNER IN THE YOUTH AMERICA GRAN PRIX PRE-COMPETITIVE DIVISION ) AND A TESTIMONIAL FROM HER MOTHER ABOUT THE HER YAGP PREPARATIONS AND THE TEACHING PRACTICES OF CHARLESTON BALLET THEATRE CENTER FOR DANCE EDUCATION .
What I look for in an artistic training ground are the backbones of what it takes to mold an artist, in this case a classical ballet dancer. I wanted instructors who had superior knowledge in the field and who are capable of handing down that knowledge to their students with honest enthusiasm and solid foundation. CBT has proven to be just that. My daughter has been under the tutelage of Jill Eathorne – Bahr and Patricia Cantwell since 2012 and due to their diligence and the true desire to guide their students, my daughter has blossomed and continues to blossom into a dancer with integrity.
With the acquired work ethic that one must have in order to achieve satisfactory results as an artist, my daughter now carries her learned skills into the studio and onto the stage as well as academically maintaining straight “A”s throughout the years. I believe, that what she has gained from her training at CBT bleeds through every aspects of her life.
Instructors at CBT expect accountability from students and carefully train them accordingly with respect and warmth. Guest artists brought for performances are superior whereby the students have the rare opportunities to learn from rehearsals with professional dancers and guest teachings.
Caring and collaborative foundation set by the directors promotes a perfect atmosphere for young dancers to connect with each other whereby the bonding they establish is beyond mere friendship.
I, as a parent, feel very fortunate and blessed to have my child train at CBT Center for Dance Education..
